Came here to Heritage bbq on Sunday after visiting the mission. I've been wanting to eat here after having many failed bbq runs. My husband is a picky bbq person so I had to bring some home for him. After waiting in like for 15 minutes, we placed our order 4lbs of brisket, 2 beef ribs which were 1.5 lb each, half chicken, 2 lbs of pulled pork. Food was great but the people working here make me not want to come back. I really don't expect much from a place that I stand in line to order, but rude attitudes and when asked for things like boxes to go and getting attitudes from multiple people questioning us why we need a bigger to go box.

Absolutely delectable! I happened upon this place with a good friend of mine as we were making our way to the San Juan Capistrano Mission. The scent of delciousness was wafting through the air and a sizeable line of waiting people edged towards the sidewalk. These were keen indicators that something special was just around the corner. Well, we were right. I am always on the lookout for tasty barbecue and this place did NOT disappoint. Rarely does a restaurant get brisket right, but this place smoked the competition (get it?). It was the perfect blend of flavor and fat with a melt-in-your-mouth texture that begged to be devoured. The potato salad was uniquely divine, the jalapeno cheese corn bread was top notch, and the three meat chilli was a revelation. As if the food wasn't amazing enough, the atmosphere and service were exceptional. Everyone was super nice and inviting. The cozy outside dining was in perfect weather and spacious enough to breathe in all the amazing scenes around us. If you're ever in town, you have to give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.

Hailing from the up and coming foodie scene of Garden Grove where the owners learned their trade and then brought their unique flavors to create the uber popular outdoor bbq craze known as Heritage Bbq located across from the famed Mission in San Juan Capistrano. Now generally speaking South OC is not known for their barbecue scene but Heritage has become acclaimed throughout the Country as being one to take seriously. Offering a fusion spin on Texas style BBQ by introducing elements like Ube or Elote which are not commonly seen. The first thing is that this is a relaxed scene and all outdoors but covered areas so the ambience can be bustling as expect that wait times especially on weekends can be over a hour and items do sell out so if you show up past 4pm there may not be a full selection to choose from. The staff is friendly, patient, and polite so it's a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Everything is charged based off weight so this can get pricey from a value standpoint. For the initial visit tried the standards like the spare ribs and the tri-tip (the former was smoky and tender while the latter was a bit too fatty to truly enjoy) but the side dishes...nothing short of being THE best bbq baked beans (made with brisket, cotija cheese, and cilantro) and potato salad (mustard based with buttermilk, arugula, bacon, and caramelized onions) I have ever come across in any state. It's refreshing to see an independent shop take a chance and succeed in serving food to the masses that brings a smile to their faces. While there is always room for improvement it is exciting to see what they do next.

Are you willing to brisket for the biscuit? Very limited parallel parking. You have to order and get a number to sit at a table. Beef ribs $38/lb- Our favorite! Falls off the bone, tender and flavorful Brisket- Our 2nd favorite. Tender and flavorful Tri tip- pretty good but nothing to write home about Pork belly- okay Link- okay Corn bread- flavor is good, a bit dry Brisket beans- alright Texas chili- good Mac n cheese- sometimes good sometimes okay I found the sides are not consistent flavor-wise. You can order online to avoid the long line but prices are more expensive. **Beef ribs only available on weekends!**

Wow!! The Best barbecue in Orange County without a doubt!! The ordering process was simple, the signage was clear, there were some excellent options for sides and lots of meat at 5pm on a Wednesday- however the line built up quick by 5:30pm. There was some shaded patio / bench tables which was nice with how sunny it was. Note *The bar is not a full bar and wine is a little pricey (in my Opinion for the options) - ultimately an awesome experience, the food was fantastic, pickled veggies and sauces were 10/10 and staff was very friendly! I'll be back without a doubt!

After reading about Heritage BBQ in many different publications we decided to make a road trip to San Juan Capistrano for the day and it was absolutely worth it. If you like BBQ this place is not to be missed. They have a Michelin star for a reason. The plate of Texas style BBQ we ordered was delicious with a mix of Latin and Hawaiian influences that day. They serve people in a line style and have two large outdoor patios where you can enjoy your food. I would definitely plan on arriving early as their food for the day sells out fast and you don't want to miss anything. The service was extremely friendly and everyone was very knowledgeable about the menu. They gave great recommendations about their menu items. We look forward to another road trip to this outstanding BBQ place soon. They're located in a cute shopping area of San Juan Capistrano so if you are outside the area and have to trek in, you'll be able to take a nice walk around the area after you eat and there' are many cute beachside spots nearby in case you want to take your food to go and eat elsewhere.

Always a must when you're in Capistrano. The location is so fun and all outdoors. The service is walk up and they have a beer bar you can order from. The food is always top notch but it's pricey so save some clams! It's the best!

Don't come starving or you won't survive the line. Came at 11:30am on a Saturday and we waited 1.5hrs in line. Once you order, the food comes out pretty quick. There's a bar on the other side so you can order drinks and enjoy them while you wait in line. So was it worth the 1.5hr wait? I think it was worth the hype. When you order the meat, they weight it in front of you so you know exactly how much you're getting and how much you're paying. Tried the pork ribs, brisket and cha siu pork belly. The pork ribs were probably my favorite. All the meats were super tender! I love how they included some picked onions and peppers. It pairs really well with the meat. All seating is outdoors on picnic tables, no indoor seating.

If you're an adventurous foodie always on the lookout for something new, this place should definitely be on your list. However, if patience isn't your strong suit, you might want to reconsider or plan your visit during off-peak hours. Not only is there usually a long line to place your order, but finding nearby parking can also be a bit of a challenge. Now, let's talk about the food! The beef ribs were absolutely amazing, with a smoky BBQ flavor that's perfectly balanced. The meat is incredibly tender and practically melts in your mouth. Paired with their mac and cheese, chips and queso, and corn bread, it makes for a meal that's comforting and satisfying. If you can brave the wait, it's definitely worth it!

Haven't had BBQ this good in a looooong time! Line was halfway down the block mid-afternoon on a weekend, but moved more quickly than anticipated. In any case, totally worth the wait. Pro tip: decide on your order *before* you get to the counter so you're not holding everyone up. Brisket and tri-tip were both incredible, with the former melt-in-your-mouth tender and the latter firmer but perhaps even more flavorful. Love me some serious char and smoke rings, potential carcinogens be damned... :P Definitely appreciated the shaded dining areas on a super sunny day. Kick back and watch the smokers do their thing!
